Slains Castle. The parking lot was right off the main road and you could see the castle off in the distance, it was about a half mile walk to reach it. The only thing that had me a little concerned was the skies looked like they were about ready to open up and pour. Luckily it only sprinkled on us for a few but I did have a few ruined shots because I didn't realize that raindrops had gotten on my lens.

This was the only castle we visited that was not guarded nor were you charged to walk around the ruins. Unfortunately because of the lack of security there was garbage, beer bottles and graffiti everywhere. You can see the blue markings mid photo, this was spray paint where someone had written their name

Here is a view of the coast line behind the castle, most of the windows were faced to look out in this direction

Tolquhon Castle. We didn’t even know about this castle, we just happened to see a sign for it and figured we would check it out since we weren’t in a big hurry. I’m gald we did as it was really well preserved.

Their crest above the main entrance, I was surprised as of to how much detail still remained considering it was build in the 1580’s.
