Ah, the Whiskey Shop in Dufftown. This shop was about a block up the street from where we were staying. We made a few trips to this store to get some refreshments. I believe they have over 300 different types of scotch in this store, the good news is they ship to the states! |

Huntly Castle. We had tried to locate this castle a few days prior and the Garmin told us we had arrived and we weren’t impressed with what we saw so we left. Later we spoke with some other people and they told us that we had not gone far enough down the road, we had only reached the entrance. So, we made another trip back to Huntly and I’m glad we did. |

No castle is complete without a brewhouse. |

This is just a random picture of the countryside I shot while we were driving. I saw some great country side scenes the only problem was Scotland doesn’t believe in having shoulders for their roads. If you break down, you literally break down in the road and people have to drive around you. We saw a handful of places where they actually had turn out spots but there was nothing to look at. Oh ya, they like to have curbing out in the country for no apparent reason. |
Now this guy and the other two in the next photo were pretty funny; they would chase each other around and make these odd sounds. These were at the Ballindallorch Castle estate. |

We went inside and looked around. They had roped off areas where you could look into the rooms but not enter; again photography was not allowed. Part of the castle was roped off where the family would stay during visitation hours. |

Glenfarclas distillery. I had never even heard of this brand but my dad had. We stopped by the store and had a sample taste; it was quite a bit stronger than what I am used too. At this point in time both my dad and I were getting pretty used to drinking our scotch neat which can dangerous. |

Balvenie distillery. It took us a little while to track this distillery down as there were not a lot of signs for it. After walking around the grounds for a few and finding doors locked to the visitor center we gave up and started to drive out and ran into some employee’s. We found out that Glenfiddich had bought Balvenie and everything was being ran out of the Glenfiddich store. So we went over to the Glenfiddich shop to see what they had available. Their store was by far the best set up in regards to size and merchandise. Unfortunately it seemed as though Balvenie was kind of the unwanted step child. Their bottles were located in the far back corner and there was no Balvenie merchandise, only bottles. |
